Santa Cruz Mountains, California
January is a quiet and contemplative month. We’re past the
holiday socializing, days are short, and the weather is chilly. Many of us want
or need extra rest.
Mother Earth rests as well. There are few flowers (even in
northern California), few leaves, little in the way of bright colors in nature.
And yet, our short days often are graced with beautiful sunsets.
Sunsets, the harbingers of winter nights, can help us predict
the overnight temperatures. Warm and rainy, cold and cloudless, or somewhere in
between?
